Addons Detector App for Android Review

Android apps that you install in your device come with different types of add-ons that let the applications to perform certain specific functions. For example, there are add-ons for showing ads, gathering analytics, social gaming add-ons etc. Addons Detector app for Android scans your installed apps, and let you know which app uses which all add-ons, and based on the said info, you can choose to uninstall any app that you think is breaching your security bubble. Addons Detector Android App may be downloaded for free from Google Play.

How Addons Detector App Works?

You might not be bothered much about gaming or licensing add-ons. But the add-ons that have a role in showing the annoying push notification ads (the ones that appear in notification bar/pull-down menu) can be guarded against using Addons Detector. On scanning, if you find any such add-ons, simply uninstall them. Addons Detector offers multiple filtering options. For example, you can search and filter apps based on their install dates, or based on what system access permissions they are using. Further, the app comes with a ‘notification monitor’ that lets you know exactly which apps put the notifications there.

Addons Detector App for Android

The ‘donate’ version of the app comes with a live scanner that scans newly installed and updated apps for selected add-on categories and displays a notification if they are found. This is equivalent to being a premium user, and in order to be one, you have to make donations through inapp billing. The user interface is well laid out, colorful, ordered, and easy to read. However, Addons Detector Android app can’t provide 100% precision in detecting add-ons. For example, there are add-ons that are integrated in larger SDKs, and the developer doesn’t need to use them, although the app detects them. But for most users, this should not be of any trouble whatsoever.

Final Thoughts

Addons Detector app for Android gives you more control over your apps, and what they do from within your smart phone. If you think that some app has overstepped the line, you can safely uninstall them. The app gives reliable results, even though it is not 100% perfect. But then no app is entirely foolproof. Verdict: Addons Detector app is a must have for your Android phone if you tend to regularly install lots of apps/games from Google Play Store.
